Taco Bell franchises have sometimes made big mistakes in filling orders -- as in serving a Cheesy Gordita Crunch with a cardboard filling. But three young customers at a Taco Bell in Kentwood, Mich., were tickled by the unexpected contents of their takeout bags.
"I opened my bag to get my food, and it ended up being three bags of money," Kennidi Rue told Grand Rapids TV station WZZM. "A lot of money. And then another wad of a ton of twenties."
In total, it was about $3,600.
Rue and her two companions, Luke Postma and Grant Kruse, decided to drive back and return the money, and the Taco Bell drive-thru attendant reportedly wept when they handed back the cash.
But this isn't the first time that a Taco Bell employee has mistakenly given a customer thousands of dollars. According to the manager of a Taco Bell in Ohio, it's store policy to keep bank deposits in the same bags that are used for takeout orders, which reportedly is why a drive-thru worker in May 2010 confusedly handed a customer $2,000.
That customer, who appeared in surveillance video to be a "young woman in her 20s," handled the mistake less nobly than then Kentwood trio, though. She apparently was never heard from again.
